MIA FAMILY ACTIVITY CENTER
Kids can learn to appreciate art, and art museums can learn to appreciate kids. The Family Activity Center at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts welcomes children – yet deftly manages their attention spans – with three age-distinct areas. Toddlers can bounce around a foam-lined, rubber floor space. Older children view special exhibit windows at kid height. And an interactive zone links PCs to the museum’s information system.
MIA GIFT SHOP
With 50% more space, the reprogrammed and expanded Minneapolis Institute of Arts Gift Shop is a classy yet contemporary expression, befitting its environment. Gallery-style lighting accents stronger category merchandising. Patrons browse among museum-quality gifts, matted prints, American crafts and other objects d’art. The up-market shopping experience enforces the museum’s mission of bringing art and people together.
